Pull-Up Banner Size Guide: Which Dimensions Work Best for Your Event?

The standard pull-up banner size in Singapore is 85cm x 200cm. For most events, trade shows, and retail promotions, it is the right call. Portable enough to transport without a vehicle, tall enough to clear most crowd heights, and wide enough to carry a clean brand message without dominating a booth.

Other common sizes include 60cm x 160cm for tighter spaces, and 100cm x 200cm or 120cm x 200cm, where maximum visual impact takes priority. Choosing the right dimensions is crucial, as an oversized roll-up banner that crowds a small booth creates the wrong impression, while an undersized one can disappear in a busy exhibition hall. This guide covers standard sizes, usage scenarios, and the design specifications that determine whether your banner printing delivers what the brief intended.

What Are Pull-Up Banners Used For?

Pull-up banners are one of the most practical large-format print formats available because they set up in under a minute, pack flat for transport, and hold up through repeated use. Common applications include:

  • Trade shows and exhibitions: Booth backdrops, product displays, and directional signage where quick setup and a professional finish both matter.

  • Retail promotions: In-store campaign announcements, seasonal offers, and new product launches, where temporary signage needs to be considered without permanent installation.

  • Corporate events: Conference registration areas, seminar backdrops, networking events, and roadshows that require branded presence, travelling between venues.

  • Showroom displays: Property launches, car showrooms, and retail environments where banner placement needs to flex around changing layouts.

  • Lobby and reception areas: Wayfinding, event announcements, and promotional messaging in office buildings, hotels, and commercial spaces.

Common Pull-Up Banner Sizes

Small/Compact: 60cm x 160cm

Best for tight booth configurations, tabletop displays, small retail corners, or secondary messaging placed alongside a larger banner. The reduced height limits visibility in crowded environments, so this format works best at close viewing range or when positioned on an elevated surface.

Standard: 85cm x 200cm

The most widely used pull-up banner size across venues in Singapore. Suited to general trade shows, retail promotions, corporate events, and most commercial applications where floor space is reasonable. When venue dimensions are uncertain, this is the size that fits without adjustment.

How to Select the Right Banner Dimensions

Size selection starts with the space, not the print. Before ordering, work through these considerations:

  • Measure your space first. Confirm booth dimensions, ceiling height restrictions, and available floor area. Most exhibition organisers provide booth layouts with exact measurements.

  • Factor in viewing distance. Standard 85cm width is suited to viewing distances of two to four metres. Wider formats are worth considering only if viewers will be five or more metres away, or if the banner is serving as a primary backdrop.

  • Consider running multiple banners. Three standard 85cm banners placed side by side create 255cm of coverage with more layout flexibility than a single wide format.

  • Check transport logistics. If the venue requires public transport or a taxi, compact and standard sizes are significantly easier to manage. Wider roll-up banner sizes need a vehicle with adequate boot space.

  • Match the venue scale. Shopping centre atriums and large exhibition halls suit wider formats. Hotel function rooms, office receptions, and smaller retail spaces work better with standard or compact banner dimensions.

Design and Setup Specifications

Getting the size right matters less if the file is not set up correctly. Specifications to confirm before sending artwork to print:

  • Safe margins. Keep all critical text, logos, and design elements at least 50mm from the top edge and 100mm from the bottom. The bottom section retracts into the base unit and will not be visible once the banner is set up.

  • Resolution and colour mode. Files must be supplied at 300 DPI in CMYK colour mode. RGB files will produce inaccurate colours in banner printing, and low-resolution artwork will show pixelation at full scale.

  • Display height. A standard 200cm banner sits at approximately 200cm from floor level when fully extended, keeping it visible above most crowd heights at Singapore venues.

  • Orientation. Design vertically. Layouts that require viewers to read across the width, or that prioritise horizontal composition, do not work in this format.

  • Base stability. Check that the venue floor is level. Uneven or heavily carpeted surfaces may require additional weighting, particularly for wider formats that carry more wind resistance outdoors.

  • Lighting. Position banners away from direct spotlights. Glare on the printed surface reduces legibility, especially with glossy lamination.
